Stella McCartney biography
Stella Nina McCartney was born on September 13th 1971 in London, England. Stella McCartney started her career in 1995, when friends who are supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss modelled her clothes at her college graduation – but her interest with fashion started at 13 when she undertook making her own clothes. She is one of three with her dad being the former Beatle guitarist, Paul McCartney. Shorty after the break up of the beetles her family moved to Sussex where they lived a very country life, like raising animals and growing vegetables. This is one of the reasons why she became a strict vegetarian and a supporter of animal rights like her mother, Linda. Because of this she refuses to use any animal products like fur or leather in any of her designs.
As of 2012, she has 23 freestanding stores located around the world. In 1997 she was chosen as the creative director of Parisian fashion house. She was assisted by Phoebe Philo, who replaced her after her leaving. In 2003 she got presented with an honorary degree by the University of Dundee. Stella McCartney was honored in a speak by spokeswoman of the University "We have a very strong school of art and design and we felt it was appropriate to honour Stella for her immense contribution to fashion. We picked her over any other young British designer because so many of our students feel an affiliation with her. She is young and outgoing and has really made a mark on fashion. While her clothes are classy and attractive, they are still bold and she has a style all her own."
In 2003 she got married where she designed her own weeding dress, later that year she launched her first perfumed tittle ‘Stella.’ In 2004 she designed clothes for some celebrities including Madonna for her Re-Invention tour. In 2004 she established a long-term partnership with adidas, the collection name simply adidas was designed by her which included active wear such as; yoga, tennis winter sports and golf.
In 2005 she designed a range of street fashion for H&M. Margareta van den Bosch, said at the time. "Her designs are modern and cool yet classic and wearable. We have long admired her sense of tailoring and femininity."
In 2007 she did another high street collaboration, but with target. This shows that she wants people with a range of finances to wear and buy her designs.
